For all persons involved in the Marion County flooding on Sunday, 6/15/2025 and any floodwaters clean-up efforts after, we are recommending that you are up-to-date on your Tetanus vaccination, which is contained in the Tdap shot (Tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis).

Tetanus is a serious infection caused by the bacteria that affects the muscles and nerves. It can enter the body through broken skin, such as cuts and puncture wounds. It can lead to “locking of the jaw so the victim cannot open their mouth or swallow. Tetanus can be fatal.

Marion County Health Department is offering Tetanus vaccinations to anyone who is not up-to-date. Call the health department today or stop in and we can check the status of your vaccination.
